Each of our labels are made up of three parts: The top layer is the transfer tape, the middle layer
is the actual vinyl shape
or letter and the bottom layer is the vinyl's protective backing.
When vinyl is cut into shapes or letters, the excess vinyl that is not the letter/shape
needs to be removed in a time consuming process called weeding, as
a convenience to our customers we pre-weed our vinyl. A transfer tape is then
applied over the letter/shape, the tape is used to transfer the letter/shaped
to its final destination. Installing our vinyl labels into your translucent buttons is simple but
does require some patience and should not be rushed. Below
are step by step directions to assist you.
Before You Start:
Gather scissors, alcohol, cotton tipped swabs, a ballpoint bent w/cap, the vinyl Button
Labels and your translucent 24mm and/or 30mm buttons.
The vinyl Button Labels are shipped in full sheets, separate them by cutting in between each letter or shape.
Step 1:
Using the pointed end of the pen cap, press in and push up on the tabs located on both sides of the buttons.
Continue the pressing/pushing motion, alternating the sides, until the button
plunger pops up, lift the plunger to remove it from the button. Remove the translucent plunger
cover from the plunger base.
If the base is clean proceed to the next step, if it has any dirt on
it dip a cotton tipped swap into
the alcohol and gently rub it in a circular motion over the plunger base, allow a few seconds for the
alcohol to dry before moving on to the next step.
Step 2:
Carefully remove the backing (the bottom layer) from your vinyl, exposing the vinyl's adhesive while
leaving the transfer tape in place, the image and surounding vinyl will stay attached to the transfer tape.
Place the plunger base upright on a flat surface, hold the transfer tape/vinyl over the base. Taking
your time, align the vinyl image with the base as
desired (use the circle border to help with centering). Once you are happy with the location of the image on
the base, press down firmly on the transfer tape/vinyl image, smoothing your fingers over the
image repeatedly. If you are having trouble getting the image to adhere to the plunger, you can
use a flat-edged tool (like the edge of a credit card), pressing down firmly over the entire design/transfer tape.
Slowly peel away the transfer tape and your design should be set in place.
Step 3:
Reinstall the button plunger base into the cover and insert it into the button bezel. Repeat with
your remaining buttons.
